Genetic Infertility Tests

When fertility difficulties do not yet have a clear explanation, private genetic infertility tests can explore selected inherited factors that may be contributing to the picture.

They cannot explain every fertility concern, but they can add another useful line of information alongside hormones, scans, semen analysis and treatment history.
The right starting point depends on whether your question relates to female fertility, male fertility or both partners, and whether you want a focused investigation or wider genetic coverage.
Rodinia offers six streamlined options using an at-home Buccal Cheek Swab, while FertiScan offers eleven targeted and broader blood-based options. Comparing the two ranges helps you choose the scope and collection method that best fit the question you want to explore.

Key information about genetic fertility testing

Female, male and couple options are available
Focused and broader panels support different fertility questions
Samples use blood or an at-home buccal cheek swab, depending on the test
Reports add genetic context to a wider fertility assessment
A genetic result may help explain one part of a fertility concern and give you a clearer starting point for your next conversation. However, genetics is only one part of fertility, so the result is most useful alongside your fertility history, hormone tests, scans, semen analysis and any previous treatment.

Compare our genetic infertility tests

Rodinia and FertiScan both explore selected genetic contributors to fertility concerns, but their ranges are organised differently. Rodinia provides six streamlined female, male and couple options using an at-home Buccal Cheek Swab, while FertiScan offers eleven targeted and broader blood-based options.
A targeted panel can keep the investigation centred on one defined concern. Alternatively, a broader panel or combined Fertility Box can explore several aspects of fertility together if you want a wider view.
Start with “If you’re looking for…” in each test summary, then compare the panel structure, sample method and available support to see which approach most closely matches your priorities.

What a genetic fertility result can add

Depending on the test selected, your report may identify a gene or chromosome finding that helps explain part of the fertility concern. If it does, you then have a more focused starting point for discussing further investigation, reproductive options or treatment planning.

However, genetics is only one part of fertility. When your healthcare professional considers the report alongside hormones, reproductive anatomy, age, semen quality, medicines and other health factors, they have a fuller basis for discussing the next step.

We always recommend that results are discussed with your Healthcare Professional.
